It Must Be Age.

I reckon it must be an age thing.

I decided, a short while back, that I would sell a large percentage of my Magic Books. When I say that it must be an age thing I don't mean that I felt I had become to old for the books but more that I had outgrown them. Please don't take this the wrong way but I felt I had learned all that I needed to learn from them.

I am going through a very specific period of my magic career at the moment. A period of solidity which involves me spending a lot of time working on the same twenty or so routines over and over and over again. perfecting them. Making them shorter or indeed longer as the need arises. Routining them. Adding extra elements to ehnance the effect that such routines have on an audience, by using flash paper (etc) for example. Writing scripts or at the very least saying the same dialogue every time so that I am never stuck for words. Knowing which pocket a certain prop is taken from and which pocket a certain prop goes back in to so as not to fumble. Expressing personal stage management in other words

So you get the picture? It's not pretentious, it really isn't. It is just realism. The books were gathering dust and I wanted someone else to enjoy them. I kept some of the books that are still out of print though. I appreciate that having a nice Library is a very splendid thing and indeed anyone who has been to my house would be able to tell you that my family places great pride in books. One wall of our lounge room is a huge book shelf. It was just that my magic books were beginning to have no practical value. Unlike all of the other titles on that wall of words.

In any case I have some high end props that will increase in value just as much as the books. Fakini Balls, A Schoolcraft 3CM, a set of Sterling Silver Cups....although I use the Penguin ones on a more regular basis. I had a Lassen four nest once but I lost it.

So the books went out in auction.

THE PUNCHLINE

With the money that I made I went out and bought a video i Pod. Rock on!
